What is IYMUN?
Iraqi Youth Model United Nations (IYMUN) is a recognized United Nations Simulation Conference and an exciting opportunity for the youth to foster dialogue on creating positive change and building peace worldwide.
The topics on this year’s agenda mirror issues currently faced as much by Iraq as by the rest of the international community. From harmonizing human rights and enrironmental policies to protecting heritage sites during crisis interventions, the issues to be addressed by IYMUN delegates reflect accurately the concerns of the next generation of leaders; a generation that is ready to face these challenges with relentless strength and unswerving hope.
IYMUN will challenge delegates to debate on the rising global issues, to draft resolutions in response to the problems, and collaborate with others who are equally motivated and passionate in creating the change.
To top it off, those important discussions and heated debate will take place in a city that is in the process of being rebuilt after years of conflict, and that in itself represents a symbol of hope and fight for freedom: the amazing city of Mosul.
Why Mosul?
The city of Mosul, meaning “the linking point” in Arabic, is one of the oldest cities in the world. For millennia, it has been a strategic crossing and a bridge between north and south, east and west.
Being home to people from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and religious beliefs, the old city of Mosul is a semblance of tolerance and coexistence, and a testimony to the rich cultural diversity of Iraq and the region as a whole.
In this unique environment, IYMUN will welcome delegates coming from diverse backgrounds and distant places in order to discuss solutions to the world’s biggest woes, while celebrating freedom and restoring hope in the future, within the premises of this symbolic city.

Series Of Activities
Grand Symposium
Iraqi Youth Model United Nations (IYMUN) will have an International Grand Symposium where the delegates will be welcomed to the beautiful city of Mosul. This will be a great start to the event and a chance for the participants to get to know each other before the official start of the conference.
Several renowned personalities from across the world have been invited to deliver speeches on the main theme of the event and will share their knowledge and expertise with the young future diplomats.
Committee Sessions
The Committee Sessions, headed by Chairs, are the heart of this Conference. Delegates get the opportunity to recreate working sessions from the UN and represent their assigned countries like real diplomats. Delegates will be assigned countries different from those of their citizenship, forcing them to think outside the box and step out of their comfort zone, thus making the experience more thrilling as well as educational.
Delegates get to debate specific topics – depending on their committees – negotiate and form resolutions to solve the most pressing global issues.
Diplomatic Dinner
The Diplomatic Dinner is held to help delegates break the ice and get to know each other. The biggest learning opportunity being through diversity, exchanging points of view among delegates coming from across the globe is an invaluable opportunity to broaden one’s perspective about the current state of the world.
The Diplomatic Dinner caters not only to the delegates but also to ttop-notchpersonalities featuring government officials, UN representatives, ambassadors, professors and mentors, which provides the perfect portal for delegates to seek guidance and expand their network.
Cultural Night
One of the most fun parts of IYMUN is undoubtedly the Cultural Night. This is the time when the environment lights up with different colourful cultural performances and gives the IYMUN experience a whole new meaning.
All delegates dress up in their cultural attires and showcase their culture through diverse artistic performances. These sensational moments of the event should not be missed under any circumstances!
Mosul City Tour
Because the Iraqi Youth Model United Nations is also an invitation to discover the beauty of Iraq and learn its history, the delegates will have the opportunity to take part in a recreational city tour one day before the official start of the conference, and take a closer look at the culture of Mosul. The delegate experience can only be enhanced by seizing this unique opportunity and explore the numerous wonders the region has to offer!
